When I was 9 years old the school got a word that I was an illegal immigrant from the States. We were deported and had to come back with permits to live and go to school in Mexico. My parents were legal in Mexico but not us. Mexican authority did not think about us children having to be without our parent for as long as it took to straighten things out. That year we left Mexico for good and never went back.
