Why Study War?

Excellent article, much needed. I would add to your bibliography the battle-oriented History of the Second World War of Liddell Hart.

I noticed exactly this situation as a history minor (1969) at
Texas A&M, of all places. Though we had a 2,500-member Corps of Cadets, there was one section of Military History presented each year. It was so popular that it was restricted to history majors. I took two senior level history courses, "Roosevelt to Roosevelt" and "FDR to the Present." Though I'm certain there were one or two important conflicts in those periods, we studied them only from a political standpoint; not at all as military conflicts.

Thanks. (But where's Sun Tzu?)
