Theodore Dalrymple is a physician who regularly sees patients in an English prison. He is a contributing editor of City Journal, a columnist for the London Spectator, and a frequent contributor to the Daily Telegraph.

Kay S. Hymowitz, a contributing editor of City Journal, is the author of Ready or Not: Why Treating Children as Small Adults Endangers Their Future and Ours. She has written for the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

Stefan Kanfer, a contributing editor of City Journal and a former editor of Time, is the author of several novels and social histories. His new books are Groucho, a biography of Groucho Marx, and The Essential Groucho.

Bernard B. Kerik was named the 40th police commissioner of the City of New York in August 2000. He is the former commissioner of the city’s Department of Correction.

John H. McWhorter, an associate professor of linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley, is a contributing editor of City Journal and the author of Losing the Race: Self-Sabotage in Black America.
