Is there any reason beyond wishful thinking to believe he will appoint anyone but leftists?
Sergio Garcia's parents brought him to the U.S. illegally when he was 17 months old. When he was 8 or 9, he returned with his family to his native Mexico, where he lived for the next 8 or 9 years. At 17, he re-entered illegally. Under our immigration laws, being in the U.S. without authorization is a crime. That he has "gotten away with" the crime for so long does not negate the fact that his presence in the U.S. is a crime. Nations that do not take their borders seriously--and this includes enforcing their immigration laws--cannot be taken seriously as nations.

This state is a disgrace.
More evidence that California is the home of excess (I say as an admiring visitor from a blander polity and jurisdiction) but let me quibble with the proposition that some undocumented Latino's presence in CA is a crime (sic) and that moral turpitude sufficient to disqualify him from legal practice follows. It needs at least to be fleshed out
Supposing he is 28 and was brought to CA by his parents 25 years ago. What is the moral thing for him to do?
Brown is 76 years old. Some of us get wiser with age. He appointed Bird nearly 40 years ago, when you was a callow youth. Call me naive, but I am hopeful that he would not want to repeat the disaster of the Rose Bird era. How many elected officials get the chance for a "do over"? Brown would be tagged by history if he made the same mistake twice.
Very interesting article, but I an puzzled at your conjectural tone. OF COURSE HE IS GOING TO APPOINT ANOTHER LFTIST. He was proud of Bird. He defended her. Brown feigned bewilderment when the public was outraged. Californians should hope.........good luck redeeming that.
