Dr Joel Zinberg is the Best!! In every way.
He has a very high..higher than excellent in handling a patient. Me. He is gentle and thorough in conducting a biopsy, explains everything very well and performs amazing surgery. I wondered why I thought he was an artist like I am, ..then remembered, the best surgeons are also artists and take great pride in the work. Thank You Dr.Zinberg, love, Zoe
Will Obamacare be repealed or won't it? Will Congress fund it or won't it? Will the web site be fixed or not? Blah, blah, blah. We the people just need to do what we need to do and Democrats be damned. Resist. Refuse. Revolt. EXEMPT OURSELVES! We did not comply with Prohibition and we simply should not comply with Obamacare. For religious reasons. For privacy reasons. For the cause of liberty and freedom and in protest of the idea that the federal government (under one party rule, no less), can force private citizens to purchase anything with our own money. Are we citizens or subjects? Mice or (wo)men? Just say NO to socialism and to the corrupt, unionized, far left IRS: the gestapo of America's political class. Afraid of arrest? not to worry! After all, the federal government ignores millions of illegals who are breaking U.S. immigration law every day. Our Founders pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. All we have to do is just say no to a scheme we all know is un-American and a violation of our most basic founding fundamentals of privacy, self reliance, limited government and individual freedom.
How To Opt Out Of Obamacare. Know your options and become savvy self-pay patients. Join a health care sharing ministry. These are voluntary, charitable membership organizations that agree to share medical bills among the membership. They function similar to insurance, and are probably the best alternative to conventional health insurance. There are four of them, at least that I know of. Three are open only to practicing Christians (Samaritan Ministries, Christian Healthcare Ministries, and Christian Care Ministry) while a fourth, Liberty HealthShare, is open to anyone who agrees with their ethical commitment to religious liberty. They operate entirely outside of Obamacare’s regulations, and typically offer benefits for about half the cost of similar health insurance. Members are also exempt from having to pay the tax for being uninsured. From the article by Sean Parnell http://thefederalist. com/2013/12/04/opt-obamacare/
Well intentioned? Hardly. Anything devised by the unethical, obnoxious, dishonest Ezekiel Emmanuel is as far as possible from being well intentioned.
Leftists are desperate to continue their hold on power until the economy collapses and they have their crisis needed to fully impose their totalitarian plans upon us.
Any honest, well intentioned person would not blather on how obamacare would be good for the economy once in place....then unconstitutionally delay implementation of the employer mandate until after the elections in 2014. Such behavior makes no sense at all....unless the goal is to deceive voters until it is too late to repeal this socialist shibboleth. Medicare for all is the leftist goal, make no mistake. Though understand that the self-appointed leftist pseudo-intellectuals will not have to demean themselves with the poor quality, long wait times, and mediocre physicians the rest of us penny stinkers will be stuck with.

Obamacare delenda est
Combining guaranteed issue with community rating violates the most basic principles of insurance. What we have here is not insurance at all but rather a version of prepaid healthcare that was designed in a vacuum. Unfortunately, given the current political conditions in Washington, the notion of redrafting the ACA is not on the radar screen. It may very well take a grass roots rebellion by the American people to get Congress and the President to act.
Six million plus middle class Americans had their insurance polices cancelled by ObamaCare.

If you like your health insurance, you can keep your health insurance!

If you like your doctor, you can keep you doctor!

We’ll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year!
It is incorrect that there is not a single plan on the New York exchange that has out of network benefits. United Healthcare has a PPO plan that is available on the exchange. It is not the cheapest plan but it is available.
Looks like the likely cause of most of Zinberg's predicted disasters would be doctors and hospitals refusal to work for a reasonable wage or level of profit.
Martin -- America shoulders the burden of most of the fighting and dying for the Formerly Free World. Australia has been an honorable exception to the freeloaders club, but you have a much smaller population.

So it really is galling to hear overseas types criticize us for "spending so much" on our defense budget.

Also, our military is being castrated by Hussein Obama even as we speak. Drastically. While Putin and Russia arm up, flagrantly violating their treaty agreements (including nuclear ones).

Govt. is grossly inefficient in all things: costs more than the private sector by a factor of 10 as a rule. So, you get ten cents of value for every dollar spent.

Insurance companies in America compete with each other -- this holds down their profits. Which average 4% - 5%. Get it? And they're not "unnecessary middlemen": the Tooth Fairy doesn't organize mutual aid and protection societies (which is what insurance companies really are).

Anyone who thinks otherwise really needs to see Milton Friedman, Nobel Prize in Economics, on youtube. Guy is not only brilliant but funny, and really clear in explaining the nuts and bolts of how money and free markets REALLY work.

Ciao, all. Remember, Reality is the harshest teacher.
As an Australian, I wonder how the US can afford $640 billion in public expenditure on defense,p.a.(as much as the next 9 biggest national defense budgets combined) yet cannot afford a universal public health system such as exists in most of the developed world ?
In Australia you can insure privately - 40% of the population do - or rely on the public system at minimal cost - 60% of people do. Under the public system, you cannot choose the hospital you go to nor the medical staff who treat you once you arrive.
MB we can recruit some of those Cuban MD's that work for $67 a week . The Cuban ballplayers seem to be doing rather well up here . Like the man said , drag a $20 bill thru a socialist trailer park and you never know what will turn up .
One solution to a physician shortage is to use non-physicians for tasks formerly done by physicians.

Although the high deductibles in many of these plans may encourage some to just use "Dr Google" instead.
If one reads Eugene Robinson's WAPO praise for CARE today, and the Left's victory walk with supposed CBO projections, then all of us who think Obamacare is a socialist horror, will be put in our place.
At least the IRS now has access to our medical data.

Only good thing about the ACA is that it will eventually lead to Medicare for all.
Much harder than finding a physician will be finding the cash. Singles typically will have to come up with the $5,000 and families with the $12,000 required to meet deductibles, prior to recovering one cent from Obamacare. How many have that much lying around in the bank? What will they do for health care without it?
Seniors are already seeing the results of Obamacare , which appears to translate to more money and less good care. 15 minutes is the time allotted to Medicare patients by physicians who are forced into dividing their time by seeing more patients because they are being reimbursed less by Meficare. Hospitals are hiring 'hospitalists' that answer to them, and your personal Dr. Is not given privileges to care for their own patients.... Does that sound to anyone like better care? The word preventive care is being touted by Democrats as a new approach provided by Obamacare. Exactly how does limiting time spent with your Dr. To 15 minutes allow for preventative care? It doesn't.
Vince said: "Big Insurance has paid big money to many lobbyists and Congressmen to torpedo ACA so they can keep making the BILLIONS of dollars of profit they make every year."

This is completely incorrect, and you can look it up. The ACA is a deal between Obama, hospitals and insurance companies. This is well-documented, albeit you had to have been paying attention when the whole thing went down. I was paying attention because I initially supported the idea of "affordable healthcare for all." Now that this train wreck is in motion, I can't believe anyone is still willing to support it or Barack Obama.
"The drafters of the ACA presumably had noble intentions, but the law is failing in all of its intended goals." There is zero evidence of noble intentions and plenty of evidence of nihilistic evil at work with the ACA. It is not presumptuous to state that the goal is the killing off of the old, the sick, and all who do not fit a utopian society. This health train wreck heading straight for us is the best argument for NO government involvement in the health of citizens whatsoever. And don't forget, illegals will get FREE healthcare on our backs, while millions of Americans go without.
Vince -- do you actually believe that the bureaucracy of the federal and state governments is less disruptive than that of the private sector?

Do you think that government workers are generally more motivated -- and productive -- than those in the private sector?

Do you realize that those insurance companies you are quick to criticize are paying billions in income taxes, property taxes, and numerous other fees to the government -- as well as are the employees of those companies?

Do you realize that those employees -- by virtue of having jobs -- are financially self sufficient, and are net providers to the government and society?

Big Insurance has paid big money to many lobbyists and Congressmen to torpedo ACA so they can keep making the BILLIONS of dollars of profit they make every year. They're an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy between people and their doctors that could/should be eliminated in favor of the already well-known and successful Medicare system. Of course the GOP and it's backers will block. They're the problem since they refuse to work together with the Democrats to provide the best health care for those of us who aren't wealthy enough to pay as we go regardless of the cost. What a shame ordinary people actually support the GOP who aren't the least bit interested in helping the middle class to survive and maybe even thrive.
Just ask your doctor.
The full negative impact of ACA is not available to us in as much as the extensions continue to delay the inevitable shock ... the Democrat strategy seems to be trying to "keep it alive" deflect the criticism as racist or classist or anything else - calculating the longer it lives the harder it will be to kill ... at the same keep the discussion on it alive to - lest the narrative shift to it's illegality and the illegality of the actions of Obama ...we are trying to fix the result and not the cause ... remove the cause - remove the result !!
Gnome -- it argues for no such thing, although I'm not surprised that you perceive it as such.

It argues for a market-based, competitive system that will provide far better care than any socialist, government-run system ever could. Then, simply give poor people government-funded vouchers that they can use to purchase medical insurance in the marketplace.

Instead, we will see many doctors and hospitals opt-out of the government-run health-care system, and only provide services in the private sector. And in this environment, it's the poor people who will suffer the most. (And blaming it on George Bush will provide little comfort...)

Unless, of course, the entire health care system crashes as a result of ObamaCare, in which case everyone is screwed...
This argues that we should exclude medical care for a bunch of people so that the rest of us can have it better.
I don't believe for a second that the drafters of the ACA had "noble intentions". I think their intention ALWAYS was to move the country into a single payer system run by the government. Because they were unable to get away with doing that directly they came up with a 2000 page monster that was designed to fail. There is no "FIX" for 0bamacare. It needs to be repealed and tossed onto the dustbin of history. Along with 0bama and Pelosi.
From the perspective of the Left, the ACA can better be redrafted by providing punishment for physicians and hospitals that do not accept coverage on ACA terms. Piffling reasons such as "cannot even cover the nurses' wages" will cut no ice with the law as they would amend it.

This is just a shame, no matter how you look at it. The drafters of ACA were well intentioned? I think that is overly kind. The drafters really intended to lure these unsuspecting and naïve Americans who voted Obama into office to accept the much rejected single payer system eventually after this monstrosity collapsed. Look at the suffering they caused yet they show not a scintilla of self-remorse. They just continue to lie to us, playing the ultimate shell game. This is how morally bankrupt these politicians are. If Americans do not find their moral compass and use it, I fear my grandchildren will suffer immensely and unnecessarily. We are the architects of our own hell.
A friend who has a poverty level income, but has always managed to take care of himself without any assistance from the government including maintaining a health insurance policy, attempted the Covered CA website when his policy was cancelled because it did not meet ACA standards. He was not allowed to purchase a Covered CA policy because his income was not great enough despite the fact that he has for years paid health insurance (a lot for basically a catastrophic policy). Covered CA said his only option was to apply for Medical. Here is a law-abiding responsible citizen who for years had paid for his health insurance and was perfectly willing to continue to do so, but was forced by the government to accept Medical. The over-reaching arm of big government.
