None of the rest of the country are in any mood to bail them out anymore, if the November elections are any indication. So those states are in for some pretty hard times as more businesses and working people flee. Upstate New York will be especially hard hit, as it's economy has been poor for decades already. I was surprised how terrible it is in that part of the state the first time I visited last year even though I knew things weren't good. The politics of NYC are costing the rest of the Empire State big. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a movement to break the state into two parts, NYC and the rest of the state. I for one am hopeful that the voters will one day wake up and throw all the rascals out of office. Maybe then we can start over and truly be the Empire state.
