Selected Responses: Sent by Clyde on 07-01-2008: Another former SDS member is retired Chicago ad man Rick Fizdale, of ad agency Leo Burnett. Fizdale was another in a long line of political (not creative) people to head the agency, and his paranoia was legendary. Unsuccessful as a copywriter (he couldn't write a simple coupon ad), he was "promoted" to the position of corporate killer, eventually using that as a springboard to head the agency. Fizdale eventually retired with millions of dollars while leading the company to its biggest losses in years and its eventual sale to French ad agency Publicis. Fizdale was also the self-appointed arbiter of taste at the agency, and a collector or "art." One of his most famous purchases was the American flag some idiot pissed on and called "art"--enough of a statement that Fizdale had to have it for his wall. |
