I think I'll hedge my bets. Drawing sweet water from the seemingly bottomless well of Islamic atavistic barbarism is not so simple as wearing designer jeans, drinking Coke, and visiting an ersatz imported Louvre.

The trend is certainly in the right direction. Perhaps in 50 or 100 years they will have evolved to the point where a Jew can live and worship Adonai in Abu Dhabi, not Allah, and a believer can choose to become an infidel without risking being murdered. That will be the real test of their enlightenment: Can they conquer their hatreds?
